The Complex Networks Summer School 2014, an event supported by the Large Graph Project, was held at the Division of Information Sciences of Tohoku University Graduate School from August 18 to August 21.
The Summer School aimed to provide opportunities for young researchers—primarily from the fields of physics, informatics, and computer science—to study more advanced topics beyond a basic introduction to complex networks. The event was a collaborative effort with Tohoku University’s Emphatic-Strategic Program, “Interdisciplinary Mathematics toward Smart Innovations,” and was administered by an organizational committee, whose members included Research Director Kenichi Kawarabayashi and Project Researcher Taro Takaguchi.
The event was attended by nearly 60 researchers from all over Japan. The participants ranged from students in their second year of undergraduate study to university professors; participants came from various fields of study, including physics, mathematics, informatics, sociology, and neuroscience.
The event featured keynote lectures, general talks, sessions on specific topics, tutorials, and poster presentations and was a huge success.
